Vaginal Yeast Infections

Condition Description:

It is the inflammation of vagina, accompanied by discharge, burning, itching and irritation.

Common symptoms:

It is often caused by infectious agents: trichomonas, Hemophilus/Gardnerella or yeast.

Underlying causes:

Trichomonas is a sexually transmitted disease. Hemophilus/Gardnerella is also known as bacterial vaginosis and results from reduced thinness of vaginal mucosa as it happens in perimenopause or menopause from hormonal decline. Antibiotics, birth control pills and steroids alter the balance of natural bacteria in the vagina predisposing to yeast infections. Diabetes and pregnancy can lead to yeast infections also. A more serious form of yeast infection called SIFO, Small Intestinal Fungal Overgrowth, can result from same factors: antibiotics, steroids, birth control pills and excessive sugar intake.

Conventional treatment:

Some causes like bacterial infections may require oral antibiotics. Antibacterial or antifungal vaginal cream or suppositories are prescribed upon identification of microorganism from the vaginal discharge.

EHC approach:

If the cause is low estrogen as in perimenopause (a stage of hormonal decline before onset of menopause) and menopause, bioidentical hormones are prescribed. For yeast infections, in addition to vaginal antifungal medicines, it is important to treat yeast reservoir in the gut with antifungal medicines.

Story:

For 10 years I suffered from chronic bladder and yeast infections, sometimes 3 during a month. I also experienced other symptoms like tiredness a continuous "foggy" feeling and lack of concentration. I had been told by many different doctors that my recurrent infections were a result of my "anatomy". Dr. Sultan prescribed a diet change, cutting out all sugars, yeast and processed foods. Nystatin and allergy shots. After just 1 month of treatment, most of my symptoms are gone. I feel great!

Dr. Sultan’s Comments:

Ten years of illness solved relatively easily-just by treating yeast overgrowth. It is not a matter of anatomy, it is a matter of understanding physiology. The yeast Candida is a normal inhabitant in the digestive tract and vagina. Its amount may increase from excessive consumption of sugars and carbohydrates or antibiotics or birth control pills. When the yeast overgrows it manifests itself in the form of yeast infections. Since urethra is nearby, it can inflame urethra predisposing women to repeated urinary infections. The treatment is not giving antibiotics but antifungals to control the yeast. That is what turned her around. Pretty amazing!

Dr. Sultan’s Comments:

The most common cause for respiratory infections is inhalant allergy (dust, mold, pollens, animal dander etc.) When the resulting infections are treated with antibiotics, it leads to yeast overgrowth. Yeast overgrowth can cause yeast infections and numerous other ailments. You can see how the sick get sicker with symptomatic treatment. Taking care of inhalant allergy and yeast overgrowth was the turning point for Kay.

Story:

Chloe is 4-1/2 years old and has had chronic eczema since age six months. We have tried both natural emollient crèmes and cortisone and prescription crèmes with little to no change. At 3-1/2 years of age, Chloe also began to have several yeast infections that required multiple doses of over-the-counter and prescription medication. Once the visible yeast rash resolved visually, Chloe still had moderate to severe rectal itching and urinary pain. Within 2-3 weeks of following a diet regimen for Candida, her eczema and itching resolved to being mild and occasional. After 3 months treatment is 100% resolved. Thank you for a cure and not just a treatment.

Dr. Sultan’s Comments:

yeast is an important cause for many chronic illnesses and is one of the least appreciated cause. You will repeatedly see its role in many illnesses throughout these success stories

Story:

In 1999, I suffered from severe diarrhea, vomiting, yeast infections and high blood pressure. My physician decided to do exploratory surgery to find out what was causing the constant loss of body fluids, as his testing and medication did not solve my issues. I was advised by a friend to see Dr.; Sultan for a second opinion before going into surgery. My first visit with Dr. Sultan was based on educating me on foods, and my environment. Then he scheduled me for allergy testing. My second visit was the results of such test, which revealed my sensitivity to sugar, flour, vinegar, etc. I was able to avoid surgery, rid myself of constant yeast infection, and now, rather than daily medication for high blood pressure, it is controlled with medication 3 times per week. Also with vitamins, minerals, clean diet, meditation and daily exercise. Our goal is to rid me of medication altogether. I have saved thousands of dollars in medical cost plus the intrusive surgery was avoided. I feel 100% better and the fact that I have been educated on how to take better care of myself has no dollar restriction. I have referred 8-10 of my friends with health issues to Dr, Sultan. When I visit Dr. Sultan, I feel confident I am getting the best care from him and his staff. It's like visiting close friends who have your best interest at heart. Thanks again, Dr. Sultan.

Dr. Sultan’s Comments:

two most important causes for all sorts of gastrointestinal diseases are yeast and food allergy. These are missed all the time. The resulting illness can be a simple digestive upsets to severe diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease. An unnecessary surgery saved; a life saved!

Story:

I came to Dr. Sultan over a year ago. I had many symptoms, such as bronchial asthma, recurrent vaginal yeast infections approximately 24 (once a month), itching and swelling of eyes (6 years), urinary tract infections for 7 years, fatigue, canker sores, gas and bloating for 1 year and headaches, also chest pains which turned out to be from food.
I had been to several doctors for my problems including a prior allergy doctor and no one could really get me well because they only treated the symptoms, not the cause. Dr. Sultan treats the cause.
Today, 05-15-91 - I feel great, I am taking allergy shots, watching my diet and doing what Dr. Sultan suggests I do. All my symptoms are gone except for slight asthma. Whenever I have been sick the Doc has been there to see me and immediately help me.
I have since had friends come over and now my mother. I tell people all the time about Dr. Sultan and his allergy treatment center and his staff has always been good to me. Whenever I have any problem of sickness or pain I consult with Dr. Sultan first and I know if he can't help me he will send me to someone who can. He is a very honest and caring Doctor. I would highly recommend anyone coming here.

Dr. Sultan’s Comments:

When she had multiple problems like this, doctor of the organ approach does not work. You need somebody who is able to look at the patient comprehensively from head to toe and make connections and figure out the reasons for all the symptoms. Once that is accomplished, recovery is quick.
