Psoriasis

Condition description:

A skin condition that covers the body with thick, red, raised patches and silvery white scales.  Lesions are most frequently seen on the elbows and knees, but they may appear anywhere.

Underlying Causes:

It seems to be related to an imbalance in natural biochemicals in the body which regulate cell division.  Such imbalances can stimulate abnormal fast division of skin cells circulating toxins from toxic bowels and free radicals have been implicated. There may still be an autoimmune component, as psoriatic arthritis, a form of arthritis. Sometimes accompanying psoriasis is believed to be autoimmune disease.  Factors include yeast overgrowth, deficiency of essential fatty acids, and food sensitivities.  Vitamin D deficiency can also cause psoriasis.

Conventional treatment:

Sunlight or ultra-water light treatments.
Topical creams or ointments sometimes containing cortisone.
Vitamin D cream (Dovonex).

EHC approach:

Treat yeast overgrowth if indicated. Look for hidden food sensitivities and treat. Supplement with essential fatty acids Omega 3 in the form of fish oil one teaspoon daily. Treatment of vitamin D deficiency
