Condition Description
An autoimmune disease of the small intestine that is triggered by Gluten, a dietary protein
Common Symptoms
Gastrointestinal symptoms include diarrhea, malabsorption of ingested fats and nutrients (leading to weakness and/or fatigue), gas, excessive stool odor, failure to gain weight or weight loss, and abdominal pain
- Extra-intestinal symptoms include anemia, vitamin and mineral deficiency (B12, iron, calcium, etc), osteoporosis, neurological symptoms (motor weakness and/or tingling sensations), dermatitis, herpetiformis, and hormonal disorders (amenorrhea, delayed onset of puberty in women and impotence and infertility in men)

- Condition is caused by exposure to gluten
