Hashimoto's Disease

Hashimoto’s Disease

Condition description:

It is also called autoimmune thyroiditis.  Here the immune system starts attacking thyroid gland.

Common symptoms:

Hashimoto disease can either present as an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) or as underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism).  More commonly, it presents as underactive thyroid and symptoms include tiredness, morning fatigue, tiredness by the end of the day, feeling excessively cold, cold hands, cold feet, dry skin and facial puffiness in the morning.  When it presents as overactive thyroid, symptoms included rapid heartbeat, feeling hot, warm, sweaty palms, palpitations, nervousness, irritability and tremors.

Underlying causes:

One of the autoimmune disorders in which the immune system starts attacking the thyroid gland.

EHAC approach:

Appropriately prescribed dose of thyroid hormone can effectively reverse the symptoms of low thyroid and allow the patients to regain full health.  The thyroid gland produces two major hormones, which are T4 and T3.  There are three forms of thyroid prescriptions available:  those containing purely T4 hormone, those containing purely T3 hormone, and a combination containing both T4 and T3.  The combination of T4 and T3 work more effective than the individual T4 and T3. Of the available combination thyroid medications, the best is a natural thyroid derived from pig.  Various preparations are available like Armour Thyroid, Nature-Throid, and NP Thyroid.
