Condition Description

Diabetes type 2 carries a very high risk for cardiovascular disease. It is complication of untreated insulin resistance. It is progressive disease leading to heart attack, stroke, hypertension peripheral vascular disease, kidney disease, and eye complications. The goal is to control glucose levels aggressively to prevent such complications.

Common Symptoms

  • Generally no obvious symptoms
  • Condition is identified through routine blood testing
  • When there are symptoms, they generally consist of excessive hunger, excessive thirst, and/or excessive urination
  • Cravings for sugar and starches

Underlying Causes

  • Genetic factors
  • High carbohydrate consumption
  • Decline in male hormones
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Nutritional deficiencies of Chromium and Vanadium

Traditional Causes

  • Weight management
  • Oral hypoglycemics like Metformin, Glipizide, Glyburide, Repaglinide, Nateglinide
  • Insulin

  • Intake of herbals like gymnema sylvestre, garlic, onion, and cinnamon
