Condition Description

Chronic inflammation of nasal sinuses that can affect people of all ages. Almost 30 million people suffer from this in the US. It is often accompanied by Allergic Rhinitis

Common Symptoms

  • Runny nose, post-nasal drip or nasal congestion
  • Recurrent sinus infections up to several times a year
  • Facial pain and pressure
  • Sinus headaches
  • Bad breath

Underlying Causes

  • Inhalant allergies to dust, mold, pollen, or animal dander (dog, cat, etc.)
  • Hidden food allergies
  • Chronic fungal sinus infections
  • Chronic bacterial infections
  • Exposure to toxic [immune-suppressing] chemicals

Traditional Approach

  • Antihistamines like Zyrtec, Claritin, Clarinex, Allegra, Chlorpheniramine, Benadryl
  • Decongestants like Sudafed
  • Nasal steroids like Flonase, Nasacort AQ, Nasarel, Nasonex or Rhinocort
  • Antibiotics like Amoxicillin, Augmentin, Keflex, or Bactrim

EHC Approach

  • For accompanying allergic rhinitis test for inhalant allergy and if necessary treat them
  • Test for and treat any hidden food allergies
  • Look for and treat fungal sinusitis as it is a common cause
  • Build up immunity with a bacterial vaccine like MRV
