Viral Infections

Back

These consist of a group of viruses that belong to the herpes family and include Epstein Barr (EBV), Herpes Virus I, Herpes Virus II, Cytomegalic Virus (CMV), etc. Rubella virus does not belong to the herpes group of viruses but behaves the same way. These viral infections are widespread, and most people have had or will get these infections sometime during their lifetime. In most instances, the primary infection is self-limited and these viruses remain dormant inside the body and no subsequent illness results. However, the body is incapable of getting rid of these viruses completely. Therefore, in certain susceptible individuals, these viruses can flare up periodically producing recurrent episodes of infection. Most common symptoms of such flare-ups include chronic fatigue, recurrent sore throats, frequent respiratory infections, fever, swollen glands, low grade fever, canker sores, dizziness, depression, headaches, etc.
