Incurable Diseases or Incurable People? |
Back |
| by Tipu Sultan, MD According
to many professionals in the Healing Arts, Incurable Diseases
are not as much of an obstacle as Incurable People. A
so-called "Incurable Disease" is a known thing.
Not always predictable, each disease process usually takes
the same course in its destruction of the host organism.
Knowing this, knowledgeable health professionals are able
to look beyond the disease, find deficits in the host
organism, and prescribe appropriate treatment. Using a
combination of proper medical treatment and correction
of the deficits, the body can usually heal itself. Incurable
People are always predictable, have tightly closed minds,
believe in only what they know. Never willing to look
outside their sphere of comfort, Incurable People have
stopped learning, stopped seeking, stopped growing. This
is as much a disease process as a physical disease. And
there are those who will tell you that this mind-set may
contribute to deadly diseases of the body. What does the
Incurable Person do when disease strikes? This person
does what a lot of us did before we realized there are
many paths toward wellness - he goes to a mainstream,
traditional medical doctor. Not a sin, by any means. The
sin is committed when we accept, without question, the
treatment and prognosis. When a doctor tells a patient
there is no "cure" for fibromyalgia, for instance,
many of those patients accept this because, "He's
the doctor, he must know." What that doctor is really
telling the patient: "All patients with your kind
of symptoms never get better with my treatment."Does
this mean that all mainstream medical professionals are
bad? Not at all. They just have not received their wake-up
call. I received my wake-up call about 25 years ago. It was my turn to get sick, and I did what was the prudent thing to do. I sought the most reputable, successful specialist I could. Guess what? I didn't get better, in fact, I got worse! A year or so later, circumstance found me at the annual convention of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine where my life would be changed forever. All my years of training had not prepared me for the paradigm shift I found there. Since then, I have been learning and practicing Environmental Medicine in the St. Louis area. I never stop seeking, never stop learning and never stop growing. I will tell you, "When you stop learning, you stop growing, and when you stop growing, you die." My paradigm shift took me from an "Incurable Doctor" to a true doctor of the Healing Arts. I will also tell you, "You may have been led to believe that many chronic illnesses such as asthma, arthritis, sinus problems, irritable bowel, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraine headaches, and hyperactivity and learning problems in children are incurable. Nothing can be farther from the truth. By finding the cause and treating the cause many people can regain their previous good level of health." |
